Guess who just bought a new guitar? Me!

It's an acoustic, but it can also plug in. I'll have to buy a pickup for it eventually. I also have to name it.

I name all my guitars. My first one, a classical guitar, is August. My electric is Iggy. This is my third guitar and already I've run out of names.

Mixcraft

Today I was messing around in a recording program called Mixcraft. I was experimenting with the MIDI functions that it has. Turns out, you don't need a MIDI keyboard to use them. Pretty sweet, huh?

I'm looking into getting another guitar. Hopefully, I can get an acoustic with a pickup for a decent price. Gonna have to buy it used, though. Still, as long as it plays well, I'll be happy.

That Feeling When You Just Finished a New Song

I have this extreme sense of accomplishment because I just composed a song after a whole lot of... not composing songs. Really, last year, I had written almost nothing, so this feels like a big deal.

There were times when I was younger that I could pen lyrics just like that. I could even write them linearly. Now, it's just a little here and a little there. I have a 40+ page Word document compiling all of my lyric ideas. Most are just a line or two.

If I can finish one more song, I'll have enough for a 12-track album. Now, the question is, what song will that be?

By the way, this new one's called "Sorry (No Apologies)". I have a lot of songs with tongue-in-cheek titles.

Introduction

Greetings, potential fans! My name is Keba. Nice to meet ya.

This blog will serve as documentation of my journey as a musician. As with any art form, musical improvement is never-ending. It's a continuous learning experience. With this blog, I'll be able to look back at all I've done and look ahead to all I will do.

Some things you should know about me:

I sing, play guitar, and write my own songs. My specialty is rock. I know that rock is a vast genre, but I'm not sure how much more specific I can get. I don't want to classify myself incorrectly.

I'm in the process of recording an album. I have demos, but there are a lot of things I want to improve upon. Although my dream is to get into a recording studio, it costs a lot, so I'll probably end up recording it in my own home.

I don't have a band. Yet.

All the live shows I have ever done were open mics. In fact, I went to one the night before I wrote this very post. Lately, I've been playing a lot of originals live in the hopes that the audience will get familiar with them. Having said that, I can play some covers, too. I just don't perform them live much.

Well, I guess that wraps up my introductory post. If there's anything more you want to know about me, feel free to ask.
